Tarot Minor Arcana Matching: Swords

Here is the second to last Tarot Minor Arcana suits, second to last in this entire series. Swords gives us a set of characters who are either powerful entities in their own right or that have become pseudo-religious icons. Some of these characters have not been seen on screen, yet, or have only been mentioned.

This felt like a very cohesive suit to me.

King of Swords: Santora Nocalia

A lawyer, senator, doctor. Reversed: A bad man; also a caution to put an end to a ruinous lawsuit.

Santora Nocalia is the Archangel of the Dark Angels. He is not bad, but he is a fatalistic, composed individual. He is also known for wielding sentient blades. Seemed like a solid fit and I wanted the primary Archangels (sans Jihst) to be presented here.

Queen of Swords: Ara’quera

A widow. Reversed: A bad woman, with ill-will towards the Querent.

Ara’quera is not nice, can be considered a bad woman, and if the Querent in this case is Hequera…well…even more so. She is powerful enough to be granted such a high rank in a suit too.

Knight of Swords: Robo-Knight

A soldier, man of arms, satellite, stipendiary; heroic action predicted for soldier. Reversed: Dispute with an imbecile person; for a woman, struggle with a rival, who will be conquered.

Robo-Knight...a fighter, fought with Farrco, yet is noble...and he is a KNIGHT. It's just perfect.

Page of Swords: Xenkura

An indiscreet person will pry into the Querent's secrets. Reversed: Astonishing news.

Xenkura is a character introduced in Amethyst Shards...I won't spoil, but he leads an inquisition against a certain character. I couldn't not put him here, it was too powerful for me.

Ten of Swords: Miscarca Hialia

Followed by Ace and King, imprisonment; for girl or wife, treason on the part of friends. Reversed: Victory and consequent fortune for a soldier in war.

Santora and Capraeaura were locked in for King/Ace, and the only character I think that would actually work to follow them was Miscarca. Miscarca, leader of the Light Angels, is sort of torn between allegiances and is in a tough spot in general. It kinda works.

Nine of Swords: Iyier'pak

An ecclesiastic, a priest; generally, a card of bad omen. Reversed: Good ground for suspicion against a doubtful person.

Iyier'pak is the leader of the Emerald Cult. His zealotry is religious in fervor and he is a bad omen. His words, his existence, causes suspicion and doubt to grow in Ra'uw'la and Farrco.

Eight of Swords: Riag’wug Vuwai

For a woman, scandal spread in her respect. Reversed: Departure of a relative.

Riag’wug’s death is a departure of a relative…and following Iyier’pak, scandal has been spread over her true allegiance.

Seven of Swords: Reno’ala’net Hallihanet

Dark girl; a good card; it promises a country life after a competence has been secured. Reversed: Good advice, probably neglected.

Reno’ala’net Hallihanet was the catalyst to Mechanicha’s existence…after that, after that competence…I imagine she retired from it all. It’s a good card all around.

Six of Swords: Vanaq

The voyage will be pleasant. Reversed: Unfavourable issue of lawsuit.

Due to Vanaq, the voyage was pleasant. As an Empirian officer...the law can be quite unfavorable, but due to Vanaq's actions, it was favorable during the Dimensional Weapon Incident.

Five of Swords: Alexai

An attack on the fortune of the Querent. Reversed: A sign of sorrow and mourning.

The leader of the old Trinity and their fall is represented through him in this card. Five is also a number of nobility and stability, and Alexai represents that as a knightlike individual.

Four of Swords: Eyierak

A bad card, but if reversed a qualified success may be expected by wise administration of affairs. Reversed: A certain success following wise administration.

Four, fateful, and Eyierak…fateful. Spellbinder’s relationship with Eyierak in Threads that Bind the Tempest is ‘bad’ but is successful after wise counsel and administration from Farrco.

Three of Swords: Qua’wva

For a woman, the flight of her lover. Reversed: A meeting with one whom the Querent has compromised; also a nun.

The reversed meaning is really what clicks this as Qua’wva for me, in addition to this being the holy three slot. Qua’wva and King’s conversation is a definitive part of Of Fractured Edges and she has to follow her comrades too in this suit.

Two of Swords: Kenquaxe

Gifts for a lady, influential protection for a man in search of help. Reversed: Dealings with rogues.

Two daggers ('swords'), dealing with rogues...Kenquaxe works here.

Ace of Swords: Capraeaura Falalia

Great prosperity or great misery. Reversed: Marriage broken off, for a woman, through her own imprudence.

Capraeaura's falling was both of misery and prosperity. She became something greater and yet different from it.
