Series Tarot Major Arcana Matching: Part 3

Part 3 of the Tarot card series! We are almost done matching up characters/concepts with the Tarot card Major Arcana. Some of the big Major Arcana are part of this post: The Hanged Man, Death, the Devil, and so on! Major characters here too. Some of these matchings were quite easy for me as it just made sense. Hopefully they make sense to you as well!

12 - The Hanged Man: King

Wisdom, circumspection, discernment, trials, sacrifice, intuition, divination, prophecy. Reversed: Selfishness, the crowd, body politic.

I love this one. I just love it. It's just…King! Trials, sacrifice, wrapped in prophecy, a degree of selfishness, politics…and just the imagery of what this card could look like. The other Malnoren would be holding him up as King is upside down, staring directly at you... Maybe surrounded by destruction and the Dimensional Weapon would have an appearance. It's simply beautiful to me.

13 - Death: Cyclone

End, mortality, destruction, corruption also, for a man, the loss of a benefactor for a woman, many contrarieties; for a maid, failure of marriage projects. Reversed: Inertia, sleep, lethargy, petrifaction, somnambulism; hope destroyed.

I don’t really care that much about the meanings in this regard: Cyclone is DEAD. DEATH! The Scythe. It’s an imagery thing. But actually, looking at the meaning...it works too. Loss of a lover, failure of marriage, and some corruption/madness. Inertia. It kind of represents Cyclone's fall and long periods of wandering madness.

I also love how King and Cyclone are right next to each other in the order.

14 - Temperance: Kulaszar

Economy, moderation, frugality, management, accommodation. Reversed: Things connected with churches, religions, sects, the priesthood, sometimes even the priest who will marry the Querent; also disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.

Compared to Balon, Kulaszar is the epitome of chill and moderation. Kulaszar's relationship with Balon drives his placement on this card more than anything. Look at the reversed side: Kulaszar is connected to the religion of the Zfnoctewoohi by way of Balon. Competing interests referred from Balon also applies. And Kulaszar keeps it all in check....managing it.

15 - The Devil: Archalex/Vashwva

Ravage, violence, vehemence, extraordinary efforts, force, fatality; that which is predestined but is not for this reason evil. Reversed: Evil fatality, weakness, pettiness, blindness.

This was a hard one. I'm not entirely convinced by it, but it was the best I could do. I was actually debating on Balon for this one for a bit. Ended up with Archalex or Vashwva as Archalex was intending, through 'extraordinary efforts' to commit great violence against Buhukiea. And 'that which is predestined but is not for this reason evil'—that is Vashwva. Not evil. Inevitable. Archalex also rings with the idea of pettiness and blindness. So it does work in the end...with an air of 'evil fatality'...

16 - The Tower: Ra'uw'la

Misery, distress, indigence, adversity, calamity, disgrace, deception, ruin. It is a card in particular of unforeseen catastrophe. Reversed: According to one account, the same in a lesser degree also oppression, imprisonment, tyranny.

Ra'uw'la...misery, yes. Adversity, yes. Calamity, yes. Ruin. Yes! Unforeseen catastrophe? Yes! Do I need to keep going through this? I don't think so. Ra'uw'la's worst moments and the Tower align in my mind.

And then right after comes Dien!

17 - The Star: Dien

Loss, theft, privation, abandonment; another reading says-hope and bright prospects, Reversed: Arrogance, haughtiness, impotence.

This just works for me. Hequera/Dien both lost so much, were abandoned in ways, and yet...they have hope and 'bright prospects' in their future. If they have arrogance/haughtiness, it is related to the quest for the Amulet of Ra. The feelings of impotence definitely comes from Hequera. This one just seems to align with their journey and where they go from their 'bottoms'.

And that’s part 3! Some really major characters and resonating arcana that just stick with me. Next up: the FINAL part!
